If you’re moving into a new home then your main focuses are going to be on packing and planning your moving day, but what happens when you actually get into your new home? Lots of people forget about the unpacking process, which can be just as stressful and complicated as actually moving in! If you’re worried about unpacking and if you’d like to stay ahead of the curve then why not have a look at these handy hints and tips to get you off to the best start possible! 1)    Make sure your boxes have been labelled. The boxes that you’ve moved with should have been labelled by room, but if it’s not too late to make some additions then it’s a great idea to also label them in terms of importance. This will help you know where to start with unpacking! Items which you’re going to need straight away will be easy to find and you won’t have to rip everything apart trying to find your kettle or your hygiene products! 2)    Start with the most important rooms of your home. The most important rooms of your home are your bedroom, bathrooms and kitchen. You need to make sure that you have everything that you need unpacked here before anywhere else. If you’re starting a new job or resuming work soon then make sure you have the right clothes and equipment for that, and ensure that your bathroom is stocked up with everything from toothbrushes to toilet paper so that you won’t find yourself stuck in any unpleasant situations! 3)    Unpack the essential items first. If you’ve labelled your boxes in terms of importance than this is an easy step. If you have children then unboxing their essentials is also very important. Make sure that you and your family have enough of your belongings to get through at least the first couple of days! This might include towels, bedding, toys, baby changing equipment and clothes. Try making a list of what you’re going to be needing immediately so that you can be prepared for the first few days in your new home. 4)    Ensure that both your kitchen and your bathroom are ready for use.Your kitchen should have any cutlery, cooking utensils and crockery that you might need, as well as a few appliances including your kettle and toaster. Bigger appliances such as fridges or freezers should be installed immediately so that they’re ready to use when you need them. Your bathroom is going to see a lot of use, so make sure that you have the hygiene products that you need, as well as towels, bath mats, a shower curtain and cleaning products! 5)    Sorting your bedrooms.Your bedroom should be unpacked just enough to provide you with what you need. This depends person to person, so think carefully. Your wardrobe should be sorted almost immediately so that you have everything that you need for the next few days, and it’s important to make sure that you and your family all have freshly made beds to fall into after such a busy moving day! 6)    The unpacking process. The unpacking process is long and tedious, but if you go about it in the right ways then you can make it as easy as it needs to be! Don’t worry about other items such as trinkets or ornaments until you’ve settled in a little bit more. There’s no need to rush with your unpacking, so take your time once the essentials have been sorted!
